It's Easter Time!
For whatever reason, I felt Easter was later this year than usual. So I've used some of that extra time to do a pretty big Easter round-up to share with everyone! I curated books focused on Christ & the resurrection, new life, & then found a few fun ones about spring & hunting for Easter eggs too! I hope you & your family can find some new favorites in this round-up.
1.The Story of Easter
by: Patricia Pingry
(Based on the Biblical account of Easter week, this beautifully illustrated book is a great one for introducing littles to Jesus' story.)
2. Savior: The Story of Jesus Christ
b: Maddie & Kindal Ridd
(With breathtaking watercolor paintings, this book walks you through Christ's life from the time he was a boy, up through His death & then beautiful resurrection story.)
3. A Very Happy Easter Prayer
by: Bonnie Rickner Jensen
(This sweet book has a gratitude for spring theme, & features many adorable woodland animals.)
4. He is Risen!
(Through rock art, the story of Jesus' death & resurrection is depicted.)
5. Benjamin's Box: The Story of the Resurrection Eggs
by: Melody Carlson
(We do an Easter advent or countdown each year, & this picture book has easily facilitated discussing all of the symbols & pictures from Christ's last week on earth, as we crack open an egg with an item each day.)
6. Twas the Morning of Easter
by: Glenys Nellist
(Written in verse similar to Twas the Night Before Christmas, this book shares the account of when Jesus was resurrected that first Easter morn.)
7. Jesus Calling: the Story of Easter
by: Sarah Young
(Similar to her Christmas book, Sarah has written a story about the importance & significance behind the Easter holiday.)
8. The Night Before Easter
by: Natasha Wing & Kathy Couri
(There are so many things to be done the night before Easter....including the children dreaming of what surprises await them the next morning!)
9. Splat the Cat: Where's the Easter Bunny?
by: Rob Scotton
(A fun lift-the-flap book as Splat goes looking for the Easter bunny all over the house & yard.)
10. Dino Easter
by: Lisa Wheeler &
(It's time to paint & hide Easter eggs in Dino-land, but will there be any eggs left after Raptor gets into them? The dinos also have an Easter parade to look forward to.)
11. Happy Easter, Curious George
by: H.A. Rey
(It's Eastertime & George wants to go on an Easter egg hunt.)
12. How to Catch the Easter Bunny
by: Adam Wallace & Andy Elkerton
(Part of the entertaining series where some children are trying hard to catch a mythical creature & steal their treasure...or treats, in this case! But no one took into account how clever the old Easter Bunny is!)
13. Fancy Nancy: Easter Bonnet Bug-a-Boo
by: Krista Tucker
(A scratch & sniff adventure as Nancy & Bree make very fancy hats for the Easter day parade! But of course Nancy had to use real flowers in her hat...)
