I've been gathering this list on books for adults & kids about bravery & having courage for a while, but then I got to interview Terry Sidford for my podcast (episode 33) & the list kind of culminated from there. I have had so many new ideas spark since that productive, but painful conversation with Terry & I think it's important to identify our actions as courageous, where previously we may not have done so.
This list is a little unique since it will include books for adults too, but I think everyone can use a little more courage in their lives. I certainly want to be more courageous as I strive to teach my children what courage looks like in today's day & age. BRAVERY & COURAGE BOOKS (KIDS): 1. Easter is one of my absolute favorite holidays, & part of that is the new life that comes each spring, as well as the belief that I have a Savior & He died & was resurrected for all the world on Easter morn. So my Easter book list will be divided in half; the first half will be the religious stories of Easter, & the second half will be the more commercial, Easter bunny type Easter books. I think both should be read & enjoyed, so I hope this list is useful to you as you read to your kiddos about the Easter season.
EASTER BOOKS LIST (Christ-centered): 1. Savior by: Maddie Daetwyler & Kindal Ridd (This beautiful book presents a life story of Jesus Christ, our Savior, with more emphasis on his later years & what He accomplished while He was on the earth. It is written in rhyme & the beautiful watercolor illustrations help the story feel relatable to children; you can't read that book & not get a sense of God's love, & our Savior's love for you.) www.kickstarter.com/projects/lightenprint/savior-the-story-of-jesus-christ/posts/3135929?ref=ksr_email_backer_project_update_registered_users (*Check their Utah locally-based locations for purchasing options.) 2. Behavior and having manners has been much on my mind for a little while now! I think it's a crucial life skill that parents are primarily responsible for teaching their kids. But there are often little nuances with teaching manners, which is why I've rounded up some books that cover all the aspects of learning manners & displaying manners once they are learned. Maybe I'm more attentive to this since the pandemic made a lot of social situations awkward or non-existent this past year, but whatever the case, I hope this book list can point you in the right direction as you work on teaching your littles how to be polite!
