Reading Tip #1: Ask simple comprehension questions while you read. (For older kids, ask them to summarize)
Reading Tip #2: Let your kids pick books about subjects that interest them. Reading Tip #3: Read dialogue with inflection and use distinct voices or accents for each character. Reading Tip #4: Introduce ABC books sooner rather than later; babies are NOT too young to read with or be read to. Reading Tip #5: Make connections to self; text-to-self connections help children feel special. My son loves If you Give a Mouse a Cookie, because he himself loves baking and eating cookies.
